Holarctic Species of the Genus Chloropsina Becker (Diptera, Chloropidae), with Description of a New Species
نویسنده
چکیده
Chlorops distinguenda Frey is transferred to the genus Chloropsina Becker in accordance with the structure of male genitalia. Thus, Chloropsina distinguenda (Frey) is a new combination. A new species Chloropsina rohaceki sp. n. is described from Sweden and mountains of Slovakia. Some species of the genus Thaumatomyia Zenker are considered. Based on an examination of types of Th. czernyi Duda and Th. montana Becker, and non-type material on the Nearctic Th. pulla Adams, all the tree species are retained in the genus Thaumatomyia. The Nearctic Th. parviceps (Malloch) (= Chlorops parviceps Malloch) is transferred to Chloropsina, and a new combination is established: Chloropsina parviceps (Malloch), comb. n. Chloropsina distinguenda and Ch. rohaceki sp. n. from Fennoscandia and the mountains of Central Europe are considered to be glacial relicts. A key to the examined species of Chloropsina is provided.

Although P. australis has long been present in North America, many of its associated Chloropidae have remained restricted to the Palearctic. The best-known chloropid associates of Phragmites ar...
